Farms & Garden Committee Tuesday 3 June 2025 at 7pm in the Parish Rooms, Hall Street, Crowland

Apologies for Absence

 

 

The meeting was advised that apologies had been received from Cllrs Darren Warner & Graham Searle. It was Resolved: That apologies with valid reasons for absence had been accepted from Cllrs Darren Warner & Graham Searle

 

2.

Declarations of Interest  - Cllr Boor re Land rents - pecuniary.

                                            Cllr Alcock re Land rents – non pecuniary

To approve the minutes of the last F&G meeting

 

 

It was proposed subject to one amendment,

Minute 20 to read Crease Drove not West street hedge

by Cllr Davis and seconded by Cllr Levesley that the minutes of the previous meeting dated 24 March 2025 be accepted as a true record. This was agreed by all.

 

4.

Matters arising/progress from the last meeting

 

 

The Chairman advised that,

Cllr Davis will look at installing a secure area for machinery within the Implement shed, liaising with R F Welding.

 

 

5.

Millennium & Centurion Woods

 

 

The Chairman advised that with girdling of trees in the woods there should be no public access. Members agreed and on the proposition of Cllr Elphee, seconded by Cllr Boot, agreed by all that four signs be erected reading – No admittance unless authorised by Crowland Parish Council

Trees & Hedges

 

 

The Chairman reported that the tree surgeon will review the St Guthlacs trees and two on the Snowden, the tree officer at SHDC has advised that none of them have Tree Preservation orders on them.

The Cloot Drove hedge has been referred to LCC.

 

7.

Allotments

 

 

An allotment inspection is to be organised as quickly as possible.

The new tenant on Plot 1 has requested a chicken shed which members agreed as long as it is within the agreed standard dimensions.

The planning permission has now been received. Lewis Smith at SHDC will be asked to review the bio diversity condition number 7 and all the pre commencement conditions will need to be met.

A costed business plan will need to be developed and agreed at Full Council.

 

9.

Snowden field grass care

 

 

The Chairman confirmed that the field is in good condition so no further action was required.

 

10.

Goal storage area

 

 

The Clerk advised that a further meeting with Crowland Town Football Club would be organised as previously agreed.

 

 

11.

Land rents

 

 

The Chaiman reported that following the notice of rent review served by Somerley Estates on the parish council we need to consider our position relating to our tenants.

Timing maybe an issue but members agreed that we should wait for Somerley estate to move before we decide our own position.
